Veritas Mentis was founded in August 1998 by Kruos (g), Myron (v,b) & Leviathan (d) as a Black Metal band.
After Leviathan had decided to leave the band, only Kruos and Myron were left to spread the spirit of Veritas Mentis and to carry on.
Just in the beginning of 1999 Impius joined them as a second guitarist and brought lots of technical know-how and inspiration with him.
From then on, there was only one problem left to be solved - no-one could be found to replace Leviathan in playing the drums.
And so, the band continued to look for, or rather to "search" a drummer, and in spring they really found one.
He was called Agbushz Barem and joined Veritas Mentis, but unfortunately had to leave a few months later due to a lack of free-time.
So, the band had to look for a drummer again, but they were not very successful in doing that.
There had been some guys who rehearsed with Veritas Mentis, but either they were too lazy, or they just could not satisfy their high standards.
In spring 2000 V.M. was fed up with the problems, concerning the drums, therefore they decided to buy a drum-machine.
And from that moment on, several changes were made ...
Myron who was responsible for the vocals and for the bass, changed his instrument and played the second guitar, and Impius took over the role of the bassist.
But since summer 2000, Veritas Mentis had grown again and a new member was introduced ...
Namely - Arioch. He plays the second guitar now, because Myron wanted to fully concentrate on his vocal- and drum-programming - duties...
From then on the songwriting process became more intense and the band wanted to record the finished songs, to come to a higher state of professionalism. So they "conquered" sound studio "Hoernix" (Abigor, Summoning) in February of 2001 and recorded and mixed 4 Songs in 2 days for their mini-CD "Catharsis".
As People reacted consistently positive on the first output some interviews were made.
Eventually in December of 2001 Veritas Mentis played their first live show in Linz , Upper Austria (Astaroth, Inferno, Veritas Mentis, Bastard, Ravenhorst – Dec. 6th 2001) and just a week later their second show in Klagenfurt, Carinthia
(Violent Devoties, Darkfall, Veritas Mentis - Dec. 12th 2001)
In spring of 2002 the guys started to record new material for the second album "As God Rejects" which was then finished in autumn 2002.
Half a year later, in the beginning of 2003 V.M. was reinforced with a third guitarist (PiWe) and eventually a drummer (Siggy). It took some time to accomodate to the new situation, but then in Summer 2004 the next live gig was played.
Just when things started to work out and the line up was consistent, Siggy (d) did not manage spend enough spare time to work with V.M. and so he was replaced with Joey in April 2005
Having solved one problem did not solve the other: Myron, long time vocalist and a crucial part of Veritas Mentis, decided to leave in May 2005, due to personal reasons.
A replacement for him - Kathe (ex- Violent Devoties) - was then found in July 2005.
After some live gigs and extensive song writing, Veritas Mentis had the plan to record a new album in January 2006, which was eventually crushed during the recordings, because of PiWe's (g) and Kathe's (vocs) quitting the band.
Veritas Mentis decided to work with two guitars again and they also found a new vocalist - Dysmorphis - who joined in May 2006
From then on, the songs were intensified and worked over to be able to record them with two guitars only.
In October the recordings were finished and the mixing / mastering process just a month later.
Having had lots of ups and downs, the new promo CD was finally released in December.
